Subject: [win10] Topic allowance poll: Should discussion of Windows 10 upgrade prevention tools such as GWX Control Panel, Never 10 and others be allowed? #poll
A new poll has been created:
Dear members of the Win10 group,
With the free upgrade offer expiration approaching, Microsoft has labeled Windows 10 as a recommended upgrade. In recent variation of Windows 10 upgrade screen, closing the window meant "yes" instead of "no", with people turning to tools such as GWX Control Panel, Never 10 and others to prevent their Windows 7 or 8.1 computers upgrading to Windows 10 when they are not using it.
Although this group (and subgroups) are designed to provide support for users of Windows 10, it would be beneficial to bring the other side of the coin: how to prevent Windows 10 upgrade for those who are not ready yet. Allowing discussion of upgrade prevention tools would allow this list to cater to needs of those who've not elected to upgrade to Windows 10 yet, as well as strike a balance in the flow of conversation on this list. Note that a recent post from Microsoft on extension of free upgrade offer may affect this.
Proposal: Should discussion of Windows 10 upgrade prevention tools such as GWX Control Panel and Never 10 be allowed on this forum? This requires a simple majority vote to pass as this is a policy poll.
To respond to the poll:
1. Answer "yes" or "no" as a reply to moderator address at firstname.lastname@example.org. We'll reserve this thread to debating the merit of this proposal and talking about what these tools are and how to use them.
2. Visit the poll site and select the appropriate answer.
3. If you have Twitter, answer "yes" or "no" as a reply to a tweet regarding this poll (to be sent from@josleehandle).
This poll will close on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 5:00 PM Pacific (midnight on UTC). Moderators will not accept late answers. Results will be announced a few hours after the close of this poll/thread.
