Ars Technica: Windows 10 will soon ship with a full, open-source, GPLed Linux kernel #wintendev

Hi all,

For fans of Windows Subsystem for Linux, you might find the following article useful:

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/05/windows-10-will-soon-ship-with-a-full-open-source-gpled-linux-kernel/

A few clarifications:

  1. Windows 10 will continue to be powered by Windows NT kernel.
  2. The new embedded Linux kernel will be serviced through Windows Update due to it being a system component.
  3. The June release date is for Windows insiders, not the general public.

Cheers,

Joseph
